I enjoy the study of leadership and the opportunity to impact the lives of others, no matter how seemingly small or large that impact may be. I have spent most of my life in personal and professional endeavors which speak to that effect. My career journey has spanned from educating young children to assessing and providing for the professional development needs of child care providers, to a long standing career in higher education administration and teaching.
Today, I remain in the field that is my professional passion, higher education administration. Most of my time and efforts have been focused on managing small and large teams and continuous process improvement within academic records and administration. During my previous years in non-profit management, I worked collaboratively to raise more than $325,000 in grants related to educational opportunities.
I possess a passion for volunteerism, specifically in areas that allow me to advocate on behalf of children who have been abused and/or neglected. I also have a growing passion for those impacted by food insecurity. I sincerely believe that, "With awareness comes responsibility...responsibility to act."
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Life Sciences and a Master's Degree in Public Administration, both from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I have a doctorate in Educational Leadership, with a focus in Higher Education Administration, from Argosy University in Schaumburg, IL.
When time permits, I love to blog on various topics (www.drconnieshipman.org), watch comedies, old movies (love the TCM channel), and action movies, write poetry, read fictitious novels of the legal of police procedural variety, or escape to the beach or the mountains.
